Our Dentists

Dr. Narges Khalaj

Hi, I’m Dr. Narges Khalaj. I grew up in BC where I attended University of British Columbia for my undergraduate studies in Cell Biology and Genetics. Afterwards, I moved to the east coast where I received my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with Honours from the University of Toronto.

My treatment philosophy is patient-centric. I understand and respect individual patient needs, preferences and ensure that all treatment decisions are guided by my patient’s values. I’m also conservative in my treatment approach and will always advise my patients with their best interests in mind. My ultimate goal is to help all my patients achieve healthy smiles and optimal wellness.

As a lifelong learner who thrives on staying up to date with the latest advances in dentistry, I have and will continue to further my dental knowledge and skills by participating in continuing education courses and conferences.

Outside of dentistry, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, exploring local hiking trails, relaxing with a good book, and travelling.

Dr. Ilinca Serban

Originally from Romania, Dr. Serban got her Dental Medicine Degree in 1993 and completed a two year residency before relocating to North Vancouver where she hoped to better fulfil her professional aspirations.
She obtained her Canadian Accreditation in 1999 and associated for a few years in various practices in North Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, before buying her own practice in Richmond in 2003. In 2011 Dr. Serban moved to the North Shore and has worked here since then.
Dr. Serban is a kind and gentle dental practitioner with a genuine interest in her patients’ well being. She embraces every aspect of dentistry with a conservative approach while keeping up with current innovations. Dr. Serban loves her job and feels very fortunate to be practicing on the North Shore.

Dr. Bruce Ward

I’m Dr Bruce Ward. I was born in a small town in Quebec, called Granby, and attended McGill University, where I graduated from dentistry in 1976! I practiced for a year in Bermuda, where I met my wife Karin, and came to work in North Vancouver in 1978. In 1985 I bought a practice in Coquitlam with two of my McGill classmates, and worked there until I returned to the North Shore in 2008, and I have worked here ever since.
I work 2 days a week which allows me to volunteer my time to various organizations in BC. I work as a volunteer at the free dental clinic on the Eastside of North Vancouver, do committee work for the British Columbia Dental Association, teach at UBC, and I am on the organizing group of the Pacific Dental Conference, Canada’s largest dental meeting.
I have a wonderful group of patients to work with, some who I have known for 40years! Treating them and their families has been one of the great joys of my professional life, as well as working with a wonderful staff who take great care of our patients, and me!
We pride ourselves on providing ethical, informed, and technically excellent treatment, and I hope to continue providing this type of care to my patients for many more years. I love my job!

Dr. Christine Collison

Dr. Christine Collison B.Sc., M.A.S., D.D.S.

Dr. Christine Collison grew up on the east coast of the United States and received her undergraduate degree in Biology in Baltimore, Maryland. During the next 8 years she worked as a research assistant studying animal behavior while pursuing a Masters Degree in Psych-Administration followed by her Doctorate in Dentistry. She was able to work in research while in dental school at the National institute of Dental Research located at the National Institute of Health, Bethesda Maryland and landed an academic job in the Pediatric department of the University of Maryland Dental School upon graduation. She worked one year as a Research Associate in the Pediatric department for Proctor and Gamble on a fluoride research study and as a part time instructor in Pediatric Dentistry before immigrating to Canada. Upon entering Canada, she spent one year working at the U.B.C. Dental school in the Pediatric department as a part time instructor and a Dental Resident at the U.B.C. hospital.

Entering private practice, she was heavily influenced by her experiences in pediatric dentistry and created a child friendly atmosphere focusing on painless dentistry and fear management. She found that what works for children works for adults and has enjoyed converting the
nervous adult throughout her career. In addition, she has participated in numerous study clubs including prosthodontics (Tucker fine gold), fixed and removable prosthodontics (dentures and partial dentures) endodontics and cosmetics.
